Managing Truck Overloading in the Philippines

Philippines-Australia Partnership for Economic Governance Reforms (PEGR)
Philippines
2008

The major objective of the study is to establish a regulatory framework with the aim of reducing overloading on the country's highways and lowering road and road user costs. This can be achieved through capacity building and institutional strengthening of the involved agencies for management and enforcement of the axle load regulations, possibly also considering lowering the maximum axle load of 13.5 metric tons per single axle.

SRDP provided database and GIS support to the multidisciplinary team. A comprehensive database covering the whole Philippines was developed to support various analysis works for the study with particular emphasis given to information relevant to studying truck overloading and weighbridge operations.
