The study involved the formulation of high speed railway projects in Vietnam. Two sections were identified - from Hanoi to Vinh and from Ho Chi Minh to Nha Trang. During its course, various plans and designs were prepared which required information on the terrain’s relief, as well as the natural and man-made features.

SRDP provided a comprehensive topographic database with updates on the existing information on the study area. Information were updated using satellite imagery from Advanced Land Observing Satellite Data (ALOS), specifically, ALOS PRISM (2.5m resolution) and ALOS AVNIR-2 (10m resolution). Plans with 1/10,000 scale were prepared. Elevation data covering the area were also procured to enhance existing elevation data for the study area.
