Water Availability Study and Irrigation Selection Decision Support System

The study initially targets three provinces (Takeo, Kampot and Kampong Thom) and goes on for four years, beginning in 2009. It "aims to increase farmer incomes in rice based farming systems of Cambodia through accelerating the value of agricultural production". Funded by AusAID, it is a part of Cambodia Agricultural Value Chain Program (CAVAC). The CARDNO Emerging Markets (Australia) Ltd. is in charge of the implementation with the Halcrow Group as consultants.

The program consists of agribusiness development, water management and irrigation, research and extension, and business enabling environment.

SRDP provided the following GIS services:

  • Data collection and verification
  • Spatial data processing and conversion to the required coordinate system
  • Development of GIS-based Decision Support System (DSS) for Takeo study area
  • GIS support to multi disciplinary team
  • Preparation of maps
  • Preparation of GIS/DSS Reports
