The objectives the study are: (1) to formulate an urban transport master plan for the Lahore Metropolitan Area up to the year 2030; (2) to formulate an action plan for the identified priority projects up to the year 2020; (3) and to provide assistance to strengthen the administrative capacity of the Government of the Punjab for implementing the plan, through the setup of a Transport Planning Unit (TPU) in the Transport Department;

SRDP provided the following services for this study:

• Development of a comprehensive database covering Lahore City and portions of Sheikhupura and Kasur Districts featuring an updated road network database to support various analysis works for the study
• Database and GIS support to the multidisciplinary team
• Transfer of technical skills in GIS and CADD to counterpart personnel
